Thanks to the various templates and user-friendly features on Placeit, you can create a personalized Facebook cover in just eight easy steps. Read on to learn exactly how you can do this.

1. Go to Placeit.net

Of course, the first step to create your personalized Facebook cover is to go to Placeit.net.

This website is filled with a wide range of free or purchasable templates that you can download for branding and design purposes. The templates are split into user-friendly categories, so you can find one that aligns with your interests instantly. These categories include:

  • Mockups
  • Designs
  • Logos
  • Videos
  • Gaming

Within these categories, you will find a wide range of template product options that can range from flyers and T-shirts to animated features and many more. The possibilities here are endless, but we’re here to make a creative and unique Facebook cover, so onward to step 2.

2. Hover Over the “Design” Tab and Choose “Facebook Cover”

As we mentioned previously, there are various categories on Placeit that you can utilize to create a wide range of products. For a Facebook cover template, you’ll want to hover over the “Design” tab on the Placeit home page until its drop-down menu appears.

Once this tab is open, and the list of potential products are listed, choose the “Facebook Cover” link. It should be the first option listed at the top of the middle column.

3. Consider Your Template Aesthetic and Budget

Now that you are on the proper page for Facebook cover templates, you’ll notice that there is a vast array of options at your fingertips.

There are so many options here that you could easily get choice paralysis, so before you get to this point of the process, it might be best to have an image in your mind of how you want your Facebook cover to look before you go searching for a template. This way, you can find one that matches your aesthetic quicker.

Besides having a visual of your Facebook cover aesthetic, you should also have a budget in mind. You’ll notice that many of the templates on this page have a white banner in the upper-right hand corner that will say “free” while others do not.

If you only want free templates, then go to the drop-down menu on the left-hand side of the page. The default in this menu typically says “mixed,” but you can open the menu and choose the “free” option instead.

If you are willing to pay for your Facebook cover template, then a single download on Placeit is $2.95 per download. However, if you think you will use this website and its resources frequently or want complete access to all templates, you can opt for a monthly payment of $14.95/month or an annual plan of $89.69/year that allows unlimited access. Ps. If you need a paid template, here is an additional 15% off Placeit coupon.

4. Choose Your Facebook Cover Template

Once you have decided on your budget and cover aesthetic, it is time to choose your Facebook cover template. You’ll want to make sure you are on the right page before you get too attached to a template.

Glance at the “Design Templates” column on the left-hand side of the page and make sure the “Facebook Cover Maker” option has a black checkmark next to it. If it does, you’re in the right place. If it doesn’t, and this checkmark is next to a different option, you’ll want to click that option to remove the checkmark and click the “Facebook Cover Maker” option instead.

After you’re certain you’re on the right page, go ahead and choose a cover template you like. Be sure this is a cover template (the more rectangular option) and not a banner template (the squarer option). Each is clearly labeled underneath the template, but we’ll get to Facebook banners a little later in the guide.

5. Customize your Facebook Cover Template

Here comes the fun part, editing the template to reflect your unique style.

Each template will have a series of editing options listed on both sides of the template. These editing options offer a wide range of possibilities for creativity and personalization. Below is a list of all the editing options available to you on this page.

Facebook Cover Template Editing Options

  • A text box with its own font and color options
  • A Date visual with its own font and color options
  • An additional textbox, typically dedicated to #’s with its own font and color options
  • An option to upload a brand logo
  • Line color tab
  • Background color tab
  • A graphics menu that allows you to add any cover graphic from the list
  • An option to remove all graphics from the cover
  • An option to upload a mini graphic to add to the cover
  • A separate graphic editing menu that allows you to alter the color of your mini graphic

The best thing to do with all these editing options is to get creative and see what you like. Overall, the options are fairly straightforward and extremely user-friendly, so anyone could use them to create a fantastic Facebook cover.

6. Make Sure Your Graphics Are Right

The feature that might be the most difficult to use is the graphics.

If you want to change the template’s background graphic, you’ll want to choose one of the “Main Graphic” options listed on the right-hand side of the template.

After you’ve clicked or added your preferred graphic, you can crop it with the cropping tool. This icon is stamped on the graphic image, located in the “Main Graphic” list, and resembles a bow and arrow.

Once you click the icon, a separate page will appear with a sliding meter for you to increase or decrease the size of the graphic. If you don’t like it, click “reset,” and if you do, click “crop.”

Another graphic option is located at the bottom of the left-hand side of your cover template. Here, you will see a menu named “Graphic,” where there is an array of mini graphic options you can add to your cover.

You also have the option to upload a graphic of your own or choose “no image” to remove any undesirable graphics. Alternatively, you can delete a graphic by clicking on the image and pressing the backspace button on your keyboard.

Once you have added a graphic, you can alter its general or accent colors with options listed above the “Graphic” list. To edit the graphic’s location or size, click on the graphic where it is on your cover.

Now you can move it to any location you want, you can pull or push one of the corners on the box surrounding the graphic to make it bigger or smaller, or you can click and drag the rotating arrow icon to rotate the graphic.

At the end of all this, if you decide you want a fresh start with your cover, click the “Reset Layout” option located on the upper right-hand corner over your cover to remove your previous work.

7. Download Your Facebook Cover

Once everything is the way you want, it’s time to download your Facebook cover. You also have the option to save a draft of your work using the icon in the upper right-hand corner above the “Line Color” option.

To download the cover, click the blue “Download” icon located just above the upper right-hand corner of your cover. This will bring you to your payment options.

If the cover is free, click the “Free Download” option, and if it is not, you will have to go through the process of paying for the cover.

The website will make you Login or Sign Up for a user account, so you will have to go through this process.

Once you have downloaded your cover, save it to your phone or computer. It is also visible in the “My Downloads” tab in the website’s top right-hand corner.

8. Upload your Facebook Cover

After you have successfully downloaded and saved your Facebook cover, login to your Facebook account, go to your Facebook page, and click the “Edit Cover Photo” option on the bottom right-hand corner of your cover photo.

Once you click the icon, a list of options will appear. Click the “Select Photo” option and select your Placeit Facebook cover photo. Afterward, you can alter the position of the photo to your personal preference. Once it is placed properly, click the “Save Changes” icon, and you’re all set!

How Do I Create a Custom Facebook Banner?

Luckily, Placeit prioritizes being user-friendly, so the process for creating a custom Facebook banner is the same as creating a custom Facebook cover.

The only difference is that in step 4 when you choose your Facebook cover template, you would choose one of the square Facebook banner templates instead.

You also have the option of choosing a general banner template to alter and save by clicking the “Banner Maker” option at the top of the “Design Templates” list referred to in step four. Ensure the black checkmark appears and all banners are present.

If you want to remove the Facebook cover templates from the available templates, click the “Facebook Cover Maker” option on this same list, so the checkmark disappears along with the templates. This will leave you with only banner options.
