1. Go to Illustrator and open up a new document.
2. Here add the text that you wish to use. 
3. Select the text.
4. A new panel will appear on top of your canvas. Here, look for the “Character Option.”
5. Click on it. A window will open up.
6. This window includes information about the text’s font, size, and other text features. 
7. On the bottom, look for a panel with multiple T’s written. 
8. Look for the underline option, or click on the second T from the right. 
9. This will perfectly underline your text.

What Is Striking Through Text?

One technique that is often accompanied by underlining is striking through. This is a formatting technique where a horizontal line is drawn through a word or phrase to indicate that it has been deleted or is no longer valid. This technique indicates changes to a document or highlights text that should be ignored or replaced.

1. Open the document you wish to work with and ensure the text is added to it.

5. In this dialog box, look at the bottom row of the options.
6. The two options that are slightly separated from the rest at the bottom right are the options for Underlining and Striking Through. 
7. Now click on underline first and immediately click on Strikethrough.
8. The key is to keep the selection from canceling before you click on both options. 
9. The text will be underlined and struck through now.
