How To Get Rid Of Artboard In Photoshop

Photoshop remains one of the most popular photo editing programs out there – but many people struggle with using the new artboard feature. After all, some users complain that it is confusing and unnecessary. So what can you do to get rid of the new artboard feature on Photoshop?

There are ways to delete artboards of your new and existing files on Photoshop, but it is a default built-in feature that you cannot disable permanently. To delete the artboard in a file, go to the Layers panel, select the artboard, and then choose the option ‘Ungroup Artboards.’

Many people who use Photoshop can replace artboards by creating layers and groups. However, it seems that the feature is here to stay. So, if you really want to remove an artboard from your files, keep reading this article to learn what to do about it!

How To Delete Artboards In Photoshop

As you may have now realized, the new artboard feature on Photoshop is bringing with it a myriad of reactions. Some users love it – and have made using it a top priority. Others, not so much. In fact, a lot of the software’s dedicated users don’t quite get the appeal of it, and want it out.

It is very easy to accidentally create a file on Photoshop and include an artboard in it. However, this mistake does not mean that you will need to completely delete the file and start from scratch. In fact, you can still delete the artboard within the file. Here are the steps you need to follow:

  1. Open up the Layers Panel on the file in question.
  2. When you see the artboard that you want to be removed, right-click.
  3. From the menu that appears, choose the option ‘Ungroup Artboards.’
  4. The artboard will be removed from your file.

On the other hand, some Photoshop users prefer to have a keyboard shortcut so they can easily manage their work. If that is you, here are the keyboard shortcuts you need to use once you select the artboard:

  • On a Windows computer: hold down Control, and then select Shift and G.
  • On a macOS device: hold down Command, and then select Shift and G.

As a result of this, the artboard can be taken out of the file, and you don’t have to get started on your project from the very beginning. Here is a video showing you how to get this process done:

How To Create A File Without Artboards

On the other hand, you can avoid the trouble of the first section by just creating a file that does not come with an artboard. That way, you won’t have to delete the artboards later on in the process. Here is what you will need to do to make this happen.

  • Open up Photoshop on your computer.
  • Start to create a new Photoshop file.
  • In the New Document window, make sure to unselect the option Artboards.
  • Choose the option ‘Create’ to finish making a new file.

You will now have a file open with no artboard selected!

Can Artboards Be Permanently Disabled?

Because of the fact that many people don’t like using artboards, there is a huge lingering question here, is there a way that you can completely turn off the option of artboards? After all, with an option like that, you won’t have to remember to unselect them every time you make a new file.

However, unfortunately, this is not an option available to people. This is because, as it stands, you don’t have a way to completely switch off or disable artboards when using Photoshop. Of course, this still means that you can always delete them from your files, or create a file without one.

At the end of the day, we now have to accept that artboards are just one of the features of this software that are going to be staying. As the software changes and improves with time, artboards may also become better and more useful. Until then, you now know how to make them a bit more manageable.

Final Thoughts

There is really a lot of confusion and frustration amongst Photoshop users when it comes to artboards. While many feel like it is confusing and frustrating, others may find it useful still. However, if you don’t want to add artboards to their process on Photoshop, you now know what you can do to make that happen!

How To Get Rid Of Blue Lines In Photoshop

When using Photoshop, you may see blue lines on your screen as you work. These are known as the grid lines, and they are an important feature that can allow you to align, edit, and create based on specific measurements. However, at the same time, they can be pretty distracting.

To remove the blue lines, or grids and guides from your canvas on Photoshop, you can simply navigate to the View menu, and choose clear guides. You can also use a similar method to remove a grid, or a ruler when you are done using them in Photoshop.

While there is a use for these features, they can be distracting when you are carrying out fine-tuning work that doesn’t need them. So this article will show you how to remove the guides, grids, and rulers from your Photoshop screen! Let’s get started!

How To Remove Blue Lines In Photoshop

You may see blue lines on your screen if you have grids or guides enabled on your canvas. So, to get rid of these lines, you will need to turn off these features. Let’s take a look at how to do that, and also how to remove the ruler so you can have a completely clear screen.

Removing Guides From Photoshop

In Photoshop, guides are lines that you can enable to help align different elements. You can create guides manually, by dragging them from the ruler or selecting a specific position that they need to be in – for example, setting a guide in the middle of the canvas.

However, if you are done using the guides and want to remove them, there are two main methods that you can use to achieve this:

  • Open up the View menu in the top bar on Photoshop, and then choose ‘Clear Guides’ from the dropdown menu.
  • Alternatively, you can also use a keyboard shortcut. Hold down the Control key, and then select ; in Windows. For macOS, hold down Command, and then press the ; key.

In some cases, you will not want to remove all of the guides, but instead, just get rid of one or two particular guides. The methods above will clear all of the guides from your document. However, to remove one selected guide, you can use this method:

  1. Hold the guide that you want to remove.
  2. Drag the guide outside of the canvas on Photoshop, toward the ruler.
  3. Once the guide touches the ruler on the side of the canvas, it will be deleted.

This is an excellent way to remove some specific guides, but you will need to use the first method if you want them all gone, as this can take a lot of time.

Removing Grids From Photoshop

The grid is another useful Photoshop feature, using which you can carefully place items on the canvas. It works by making a grid of pixel squares and allows you to customize the grid to your particular needs. Grids are extremely useful in things like pixel art, and correct alignment.

One of the greatest uses of grids is when you are making web layouts. However, you may want to remove it at some point. Here are the two methods you can use to make this happen:

  • On the View tab in the top bar, choose the option Show. From here, another menu will open up, where you can select ‘Pixel Grid.’ This will toggle the grid’s visibility on Photoshop.
  • On the other hand, you can also use a keyboard shortcut. On Windows, hold down Control, and then select the ‘ key. On macOS, you can use Command and then choose the ‘ key.

By selecting this, the grid will be removed. You can use the very same method to switch it back on again if you need the grid again! Here is a video explaining this process in detail:

Removing The Ruler From Photoshop

Finally, you can also remove the ruler in Photoshop. Here are the methods you will need to follow if you want this outcome:

  • Choose the ‘Rulers’ option from the View menu on Photoshop.
  • Hold down Control + R on Windows, or Command + R on macOS.

You can show rulers again using the same methods.

Final Thoughts

Removing the blue lines from Photoshop is a great way to make sure you have a clear canvas. In this article, we showed you how to remove guides, grids, and rulers with ease. Luckily, with the help of Photoshop, you can now get rid of them quickly and easily! So, what are you waiting for? Get rid of your blue lines and start creating something amazing!

How To Get Rid Of A Double Chin In Photoshop

If you’ve ever had to work on a photograph, and been asked to remove a double chin, it is completely understandable why you would feel confused. After all, shouldn’t this be a very difficult Photoshop process? What if we told you there was an easy way to do this?

You can easily remove a double chin in Photoshop using a special tone known as the Liquify tool. However, this can be a little tricky, so make sure to make changes carefully so as not to draw attention to the changes you have made.

If you’ve ever found yourself having to remove a double chin, you are in the right place! While this process involves a few steps, it can be fairly easy! So keep reading to learn how to easily remove a double chin in a picture and do it without being conspicuous. Let’s get on with it!

How To Remove A Double Chin In Photoshop

So, a client asked you to take care of a double chin in their photograph. What exactly are you supposed to do to make this happen? You’re in luck, because this process is fairly easy, and only requires that you follow the next few steps. So make sure you follow carefully!

You can also take a look at this video, to have a visual reference of what to do:

Open And Duplicate The Image

First and foremost, you will need to open up the image in question in Photoshop. Once you have that done, the very next thing you will need to do is to duplicate it. You can do this by holding onto the layer and right-clicking.

From the next menu, select the option to duplicate the layer. This will allow you to keep the original available if the changes don’t look right.

Using The Liquify Tool

The main tool that we use in this process of removing a double chin is the Liquify tool. Specifically, we will be using the Forward warp tool. Here’s how to get to the tool on Photoshop:

  1. On Photoshop, open up the Filter tab on the top menu.
  2. From here, select the option ‘Liquify’.
  3. Alternatively, use the keyboard shortcuts Shift + Control + X on Windows, or Shift + Command + X when you are using a macOS device.

These steps will open up the Liquify tool panel, from which you can further select the right tool you want to use. The Forward Warp tool is the one we want to use, as it is an excellent way to edit facial features without being too obvious. You can select and use this with these steps:

  1. Click the Forward Warp tool icon. This is the icon on the top-left of the list.
  2. Click and drag over the areas that you want to edit on your subject.

Make sure that the tool is used so that the chin is hidden, but is not too obvious. This may take some practice, but you will be able to do so once you get the hang of it.

Make The Image Look Realistic

Once you have the chin edited, you can choose to leave it how it is. However, with a few additional steps such as adding noise, you can add texture and make the image look realistic and unedited. Here are some tips on making this happen.

  1. Create a new layer above your edited layer, so any noise etc. can be added onto this layer.
  2. If you want to add noise, make the above layer gray, and then use the Noise tool.
  3. Add some blur to the layer to make the noise less sharp.
  4. Blend this additional layer over your selection to create the texture you are looking for.

Adding noise and texture is a great way to make images look more realistic. However, adding too much noise can sometimes impact the quality of the image itself. Make sure you are able to strike a balance and create the perfect effect for the image!

Final Thoughts

Removing a double chin from an image can be a challenge, but it does not have to be! With Photoshop and the Liquify tool, you can easily remove this issue in a photograph without any issues.

Make sure that you practice with the tool before making any actual changes so you can get the right effect that you are looking for! Just like any other Photoshop effect, this can take some work and time to get just right – good luck!

How To Get Out Of Isolation Mode In Illustrator

Isolation Mode in Adobe Illustrator is frequently used to edit specific items within groups or sub-layers. When you are working in isolation mode, all that isn’t selected will fade out to help you concentrate. It’s likely that you no longer require isolation mode but are unsure of how to exit it.

If you want to exit isolation mode and return to the full design, simply click the “Exit Isolation Mode” button in the Layers panel or use the keyboard shortcut “Shift + Ctrl + Alt + I.” This will bring back all of the other objects in the design and allow you to continue working on the full design.

What is Isolation Mode in Illustrator?

Isolation Mode in Adobe Illustrator is a tool that allows users to focus on a single layer or group of layers within a document without being distracted by the other content in the document. This can be especially useful when working on complex documents with many layers, as it allows users to easily make changes to a specific layer without affecting the other layers.

While in isolation mode, users can change the isolated layer or group just as they would normally. This includes adding or deleting objects, changing the appearance of the objects, or rearranging the objects within the layer or group.

One of the main benefits of isolation mode is that it allows users to make changes to a specific layer or group without affecting the rest of the document. For example, if a user wants to make changes to a layer that contains a complex illustration. In that case, they can enter isolation mode and make the changes without accidentally modifying other document layers.

How To Flip One Layer In Photoshop

Although this is not the most frequent request, knowing how to flip a picture in Photoshop is a fundamental skill. You’ll see why it has to be in each and every designer’s toolbox if you’ve ever needed to flip a photo. But just as with the majority of Adobe products, even the most straightforward effects can be achieved in various ways.

To flip a layer in Photoshop, you can go to the “Edit” menu and select “Transform,” then choose either “Flip Horizontal” or “Flip Vertical.” You can also use the keyboard shortcuts “Command + T” (on a Mac) or “Control + T” (on a PC) to bring up the Transform options, and then select the appropriate flip option.

Keep reading below as we discuss these steps in further detail.

How to Flip One Layer in Photoshop

Follow the steps in this section to flip a layer in Photoshop.

For more information on how to flip only one layer in Photoshop, watch this video below:

1. Open Image

  • Open the image in Photoshop that you want to flip a layer in.

2. Select Layer

  • In the Layers panel on the right side of the screen, select the layer that you want to flip.

3. Use Transform Tool

  • Go to the “Edit” menu at the top of the screen and select “Transform.” Alternatively, you can use the keyboard shortcut “Command + T” (on a Mac) or “Control + T” (on a PC) to bring up the Transform options.
  • A bounding box will appear around the layer, with handles at each corner and midpoint. This indicates that the layer is ready to be transformed.

4. Flip Horizontally

  • To flip the layer horizontally, click on the “Flip Horizontal” option in the Transform menu, or use the keyboard shortcut “Command + Shift + H” (on a Mac) or “Control + Shift + H” (on a PC). The layer will flip horizontally, with the left side becoming the right side and vice versa.

5. Flip Vertically

  • To flip the layer vertically, click on the “Flip Vertical” option in the Transform menu, or use the keyboard shortcut “Command + Shift + V” (on a Mac) or “Control + Shift + V” (on a PC). The layer will flip vertically, with the top becoming the bottom and vice versa.

6. Flip Diagonally

  • If you want to flip the layer diagonally, you can hold down the “Shift” key and drag one of the corner handles of the bounding box to the opposite corner. This will flip the layer diagonally across the center of the image.

7. Confirm Transformation

  • Once you have flipped the layer to your desired orientation, you can press the “Enter” key or click the checkmark icon in the Options bar at the top of the screen to confirm the transformation. The flipped layer will now be reflected in the image.
  • If you need to make any further adjustments to the flipped layer, you can use the handles on the bounding box to resize or rotate the layer as needed.

Reasons to Flip a Layer in Photoshop

There are a few different reasons why someone might choose to flip a layer in Photoshop:

Symmetry

Flipping a layer can help create symmetry in an image. For example, if you have an image of a person and you want to create a mirror image of them, you can simply flip the layer horizontally or vertically to achieve this effect.

Composition

Flipping a layer can also be a useful tool for composition. By flipping a layer, you can see how the image looks from a different perspective and determine if it is more aesthetically pleasing in that orientation.

Reference

Flipping a layer can also be helpful when using it as a reference for drawing or painting. For example, if you are trying to draw a character from a reference image, flipping the reference layer can help you see the shape and form of the character from a different angle, which can be helpful in creating a more accurate depiction.

Experimentation

Flipping a layer can also be a valuable way to experiment with different looks and styles. For example, if you are working on a design and want to see what it looks like with the elements flipped, you can simply flip the layer to see how it looks.

Conclusion

Photoshop allows you to flip any layer entirely with only a couple of clicks. Although the function is straightforward, there are several applications for it. In Photoshop, you may flip a layer to change the atmosphere of your image, add reflections to make it look more real, or add a little bit of finesse.
